Training for practitioners

Education pathway planning workshop

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is for any young person (aged 14–25) from a refugee or asylum-seeking background who wants to understand more about the English education system.

The course is designed for people with lower levels of English and is interactive with as little text as possible. However to get much out of it you will need to be at least at ESOL Entry Level 1.

How good does your English need to be to take part?

In the training we look at:

  • The benefits of education

  • An overview of educational institutions (primary school; secondary school; FE college etc.) and the various qualifications you can take at each institution

  • Possible routes through the English education system

  • The various barriers a student may face and ideas of how to overcome them

We are currently running the workshop online.

The workshop is 90 minutes long.
