Parliamentary briefing: safe and legal routes for refugee students
REUK staff (Dan Webb) and Chief Executive (Catherine Gladwell) with Darren Paffey MP
We were honoured to host a parliamentary breakfast briefing in February, focused on safe and legal routes for refugee students.
Alongside Darren Paffey MP, we brought together parliamentarians and partners from across the sector to explore: Safe and Legal Routes – A Proposed Education Pathway for Talented Refugee Students.
The session shared key learning from Refugee Education UK’s Displaced Students Initiative (DSI), highlighting how carefully designed education pathways can provide a safe, legal, and structured route to the UK for refugee and displaced students - while also supporting them to thrive once they arrive.
It was a valuable opportunity to discuss how lived experience, evidence, and practice can inform policy and help shape an education system that truly supports displaced young people.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for such thoughtful discussion and collaboration - we look forward to continuing this vital work together.
